Raspberry Upgrades Raspberry Pi 4B with 8GB RAM
For people using as a standalone desktop, it will be a worthy upgrade.

In the lockdown and this pandemic situation, we are all stuck in our homes. But don't worry we are writing articles/tutorials for the people to keep them informed with the latest technology.
Are you one of the Raspberry Pi fans? Using the latest Raspberry Pi 4B 4GB or a 3B+? Wondered if they would launch the Raspberry Pi 4B with 8GB RAM variant.
Things that are improved
Now, they have finally launched the Raspberry Pi 4B with 8GB RAM variant for the people using it as a computer.
The 4GB variant holds pretty well and it has become one of the popular single-board computer.
Now, they have listened to the people's demand and launched the 8GB RAM variant. For people using as a standalone desktop, it will be a worthy upgrade.
Me being a huge raspberry pi fan, I was waiting for the Raspberry Pi 5 to come in the spotlight. As it has been almost 2 years RPI 4 has launched.
If you compare the Specs of Raspberry Pi 4B 8GB RAM variant with any Raspberry Pi 4B variant, everything is similar, no other section of the board has been changed as per spec sheet.
The processor is the same. I like to criticize a lot of things here. I really expect a lot from them. When I heard about the discontinuation of the 1GB variant, I was sure that this will come into the picture.
The power supply components on the board are improved, removing a switch-mode power supply from the right-hand side of the board next to the USB 2.0 sockets and adding a new switcher next to the USB-C power connector.
The pricing is set to be around 7000 INR in India, which I think is a decent price not that high nor that low.

Future Improvements?
Other manufacturers like Asus, Beagle Bone, Udoo, etc... are throwing out some good single board computers. Raspberry Pi being the leader in single board computers will add more features in the coming models soon.
They should add a GPU to the board and a powerful processor that can be a bit practical in using it as a computer. I suppose the same processor will just bottleneck the system. Enough RAM but the processor should have been upgraded. At least clock speed of the processor should have been improved in the processor from 1.5GHz to maybe near to 2.0 GHz.
The spec sheet of Asus Tinker board and Raspberry pi 4B. Asus is powerful & combined with a GPU. Overall Asus Tinker board is very balanced compared to the Raspberry pi 4B. But when it comes to 4k dual screen part. Raspberry Pi Leads that area and in many other areas Raspberry Pi beats other boards. This is the reason for it to be the most popular single board computer.
Many Manufacturers are also using eMMC internal storage for faster boot times. But the Raspberry Pi still holds it with an SD Card. It will be improved in future designs for sure.

Practicality in Real Life
The RAM will only be useful if you are using it as a desktop PC. Otherwise, if you are using it as a server or industrial purpose, it's similar to the other variants as per the spec sheet.
Now you can do lots of tasks and use multiple tabs and stuff without having to worry about RAM. Performance of the board will increase by ~20-30 %. Which is good.
As computing is evolving day by day, it becomes necessary to update things before they become obsolete. This was a really good step to upgrade the board with 8 GB RAM for making it more practical as a standalone computer.
After this I think, the Raspberry 5 is in the development and will come soon lets just wait and see. The new camera they launched is also something amazing which comes with interchangeable lenses. I am looking forward to more cool products from the Raspberry Pi team in future.
